Developing Learning Communities
Developing Learning Communities is an inter-school project involving four second-level schools in Kilkenny and Carlow. The project is centred in Kilkenny Education Centre.
The Project’s aims include:
(1) The development of inter school links which will facilitate dialogue among teachers across the four participating schools.
(2) The continuity of this dialogue, allied to encouragement to try new approaches, develop new thinking and become more reflective regarding professional practice, within the teachers’ own schools.
(3) The development of genuine professional discussion regarding classroom practice and reflective practice among teachers in the four schools. This should lead to a renewed focus on aspects of teaching and learning in all four schools.
Participating schools include:
Callan C.B.S., Callan, Co Kilkenny
Presentation Secondary School, Kilkenny
Presentation-De La Salle, Bagenalstown, Co Carlow
Grennan College, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny
Overall approximately 130 teachers will be involved in the project, over two school years.

Inclusion of Students with Special Educational Needs in Mainstream Classes
Teaching and Integrating E.A.L. Students
Mixed Ability Teaching/Co-operative Learning

School Leadership—The Senior Teacher
School Improvement Issues: Principals and Deputy Principals
The Project will commence in August 2010 and finish in 2012
