Guidelines for using the Computer Facilities in Kilkenny Education Centre

Guidelines for use by course participants of the IT Lab

Please do not change any system settings for hardware or software
including the printer

Software installation should be only be undertaken with the approval of
the course tutor
All software installed should be uninstalled at end of course

Machines should be left in the state they were found (or better)

No software is to be copied off any of the machines by any users

All technical problems must be reported to the course tutor in order that
these problems can be rectified as quickly as possible

No outside floppy disks allowed into the lab
Any outside floppy required must be virus checked before use, by tutor.
No outside floppy disk with system files may be used under any
circumstances

No food or drinks of any description allowed in the computer lab, this
includes bottled water and chewing gum

All files must be saved in the designated folder for your course
Any files not saved inside a designated folder will be deleted
All files and folders on the desktop will be deleted
Users should have due regard for other users saved work

Email should be used appropriately
No software to be downloaded from the Internet
Care should be taken that no activity that is likely to introduce viruses
into the system is undertaken

Users should be sensitive to the needs of others and use only their fair
share of the shared resources e.g. scanners printer etc
