Getting to the Kilkenny Education Centre
|

From Kilkenny:
The Kilkenny Education Centre is on the Callan Road, on the left, about half a mile after the
roundabout as you leave the city.

Detailed directions from various parts of Ireland
Dublin
- Follow signposts from central Dublin to the M50.
- Once on the M50 Follow directions for the
N7/M7 heading west. This will be signposted for Cork/Limerick. Follow
the N7 towardsCork/Limerick, it will take you directly onto the M7.
- Leave the M7 at the exit signposted Waterford/Kilkenny/Carlow and join the N9.
- Keep on this road, passing through Castledermot, Carlow and Paulstown and you will arrive in
Kilkenny.
- At the Dublin Road roundabout after passing under the stone railway bridge at the edge of the city turn left onto the ring
road.
- Go straight at the next 4 roundabouts and turn left at the fifth one,
signposted Callan Road roundabout. The KEC is about half a mile out this road on the left (N76).
Cork
- Leave Cork on the N8 heading for Fermoy.
- Pass through Mitchelstown and turn right
at the exit from the N8 to the N24, signposted Cahir and Clonmel.
Travel towards Clonmel, following the signposts.
- You can bypass Clonmel by following the signs to Waterford from the first roundabout as you approach the town.
- About 5 miles after Clonmel turn left onto the N76, signposted for Kilkenny, and go
through Callan. As you approach Kilkenny the KEC is on the right.
- If you miss the entrance, turn back at the first roundabout at the edge of the
city and we are about half a mile back on the left (N76).
Wexford
- Take the N25 from Wexford to New Ross. The N25 bypasses New Ross centre, use
this bypass.
- After bypassing New Ross you will reach a T junction, turn right and briefly join the N79 heading for Enniscorthy
- Watch for a left turn a few hundred yards later signposted Kilkenny.
- Turn left, cross the bridge and follow this road which will take you onto the R700
- Travel on the R700 through Inistioge, Thomastown and Bennetsbridge to Kilkenny.
- At the Bennettsbridge Rd roundabout at the edge of the city turn
left.
- Go straight at the next 3 roundabouts and turn left at the fourth one,
signposted Callan Road roundabout. The KEC is about half a mile out this road on the left (N76).
Kerry
- From Tralee take the N21 to Castleisland,
- From Killarney take the N22 to Farrenfore and then the N22 to Castleisland.
- From Castleisland take the N2, travelling through Abbeyfeale, Newcastle, Rathkeale, Adare and Patrickswell to Limerick.
- Bypass Limerick by turning right at the edge of the city onto the bypass which is signposted 'All other routes'
- Take the exit on the right hand side to the N24, signposted Tipperary
Continue as below
Limerick
- From Limerick centre follow signs for the N24 Tipperary road. Follow the N24 to Tipperary town.
- Pass through the centre of Tipperary town; just as you are leaving the town watch
for a right turn signposted for Cashel and Kilkenny.
- Turn right here and follow the road which will take you onto the N74 for Cashel.
- Continue through Cashel town centre, and take the N8 through Urlingford.
- As you leave Urlingford look out for a right turn signposted Freshford/Kilkenny. Turn right here and onto the R693 to Freshford
- At the T junction as you enter Freshford turn right, cross the bridge and turn left.
- Continue straight on to Kilkenny.
- As you enter Kilkenny you will see the County Hospital on the left. At the
next, very small, roundabout turn right.
- Continue straight on this road for about a mile and a half, passing through 2
roundabouts. At the T junction go right.
- Pass straight through 2 roundabouts (2nd one signposted Callan Road roundabout) and the KEC is
about half a mile after this on your left (N76).
Galway
- From Galway city take the N6 through Craughwell to Loughrea.
- Continue through Loughrea on the N6
towards Ballinasloe but about 5 miles out of Loughrea turn right onto
the N65, signposted Portumna.
- Go through Portumna and cross the
Shannon. Just after crossing the Bridge look out for a left turn onto
the R486 to Riverstown/Birr.
NOTE: Failing to take this turn will take you on a much longer
route to Birr but its not a disaster, you can rejoin the road in Birr.
- Travel along the R486, passing through Riverstown, to Birr. Turn right onto the N62 to Roscrea.
- From Roscrea follow signs for the N7 through Borris-in-Ossery. This road will be signposted for Dublin.
- About 3 miles outside Borris-in-Ossery
turn right onto the R434 for Durrow. Watch very carefully for this turn
which is easy to miss.
Keep on this road, which crosses a bog and is narrow and undulating.
- You will come to a crossroads at a small
village where you must yield: continue straight here and go on until
you reach a T junction.
- Turn right for Durrow (also signposted for Cork) and take the first turn
left through Durrow and on to the N77 which will take you to Ballyraggett.
- Pass through Ballyraggett keeping on the
Kilkenny Road (the N77). This roads bends sharply right and then left
in the centre of Ballyraggett.
- About 8-10 miles after Ballyraggett you will reach a T junction, turn right and proceed into Kilkenny.
- Pass through 2 sets of traffic lights . Pass straight through a roundabout and at
the next set of traffic lights turn left.
- Continue on to the large Dublin Road roundabout and turn right onto the ring road.
- Go straight at the next 4 roundabouts and turn left at the fifth one,
signposted Callan. The KEC is about half a mile out this road on the left (N76).
