Professional 3 week In Person Training Course for SNAs
Week 1: Understanding the Role & Foundations
- Overview of the SNA job description.
- Boundaries of the role in different school settings (Primary, Post-Primary, Special).
- Legal and ethical responsibilities.
- Emphasis on confidentiality and professional conduct.
- Intro to Wellbeing: Managing stress and promoting wellbeing for SNAs.
Week 2: Supporting Learning, Inclusion & Communication
- Strategies for supporting pupils with SEN.
- Collaboration with teachers and other staff.
- Introduction to inclusive education practices.
- Effective communication with pupils, staff, and families.
- Case studies and role-play scenarios.
Week 3: Behaviour Support & Professional Growth
- Understanding behaviour and implementing support strategies.
- De-escalation techniques and positive behaviour reinforcement.
- Working with external professionals (e.g., NEPS, therapists).
- Reflective practice and self-care.
- Opportunities for further CPD and feedback/evaluation of the training series.
