Professional 3 week In Person Training Course for SNAs

Week 1: Understanding the Role & Foundations

• Overview of the SNA job description.
• Boundaries of the role in different school settings (Primary, Post-Primary, Special).
• Legal and ethical responsibilities.
• Emphasis on confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Intro to Wellbeing: Managing stress and promoting wellbeing for SNAs.

Week 2: Supporting Learning, Inclusion & Communication

• Strategies for supporting pupils with SEN.
• Collaboration with teachers and other staff.
• Introduction to inclusive education practices.
• Effective communication with pupils, staff, and families.
• Case studies and role-play scenarios.

Week 3: Behaviour Support & Professional Growth

• Understanding behaviour and implementing support strategies.
• De-escalation techniques and positive behaviour reinforcement.
• Working with external professionals (e.g., NEPS, therapists).
• Reflective practice and self-care.
• Opportunities for further CPD and feedback/evaluation of the training series.
